What instruments can students choose from?

VIOLIN

​

  • Smallest string instrument

  • Reads treble clef

  • Often plays the melody

  • Can play multiple strings at once

VIOLA

​

  • Is a large violin

  • Has a lower sound

  • Plays melody and harmony

  • Reads alto clef and treble clef

CELLO

​

  • Comes in different sizes

  • Is played sitting down

  • Sounds in between a viola and bass

  • Reads bass clef and tenor clef

BASS

​

  • Called upright or double bass

  • Lowest sounding instrument

  • Is found in all string ensembles as well as jazz ensembles

  • Can be played by any size person
